Celebrating Easter

I'm trying to prepare for a family Easter dinner after church Sunday. I want it to be yummy and pretty but mostly I want it to reflect my love for my Savior Jesus Christ and the celebration of His victory over death. His death that allows me to live again and my deep gratitude for his unfathomable sacrifice for me.

I was so pleased to find the He Is Risen free printable on good old Pinterest. I printed it a couple days ago and framed it today. Now I'm trying to find the right spot to place it. I hope the grands notice and appreciate this holy holiday.

Here is the link to the generous gal who shared her talents freely. I hope she's blessed for this kindness.

Blessed Easter Wishes

"However dim our days may seem,
they have been a lot darker for the Savior of the world.
As a reminder of those days;
Jesus has chosen, even in a resurrected,
otherwise perfected body,
to retain for the benefit of His disciples,
the wounds in His hands
and in His feet
and in His side;
sign, if you will,
that painful things happen
even to the pure and the perfect;
sign, if you will,
that pain in this world
is not evidence that God
doesn't love you;
signs, if you will,
that problems pass and
happiness can be ours.
It is the wounded Christ
who is the Captain
of our souls."
-Jeffrey R. Holland

Wishing you a blessed Easter. I will be celebrating my resurrected Savior, friend, example.
Happy day, msk

Are We There Yet???

Just received this cell phone picture!!!!  Yes, Javi is coming too.
I'm so excited that the A2K clan are making the trek south TODAY to spend some of their spring break with us.  I'm spiffying up the two spare rooms and grateful they are the type of people that will overlook the fact the food  storage is part of the bedrooms.  We'll be having great sunny, warm days and create memories.  Penelope and I spoke on the phone last night while Aunt Linny was tending and A2's were out.  Parents don't know of the plans P and I came up with...hope they're on board.  They do include ice cream, fires, marshmallows and so much more.

Let me share with you the mini flag I purchased while in PA this winter welcoming Beckett and loving that branch of the family tree.  This great little, old fashioned store Beiters carries everything.

Just in time for Easter.

A flag that states my sentiments about Easter. "He Is Risen".

Surprise, I told you this store had everything.  When was the last time you saw candy cigarettes.  And silly me had to pull out my cell phone and take a picture of them...just for you.

Happy Easter

It was a gorgeous day in the valley of the sun for our Easter celebration. I was privileged to speak in the singles ward Sacrament meeting which is still a scary thing for me yet the study and preparation end up making it a blessing. One of my favorites parts of the day is singing the hymns that deal with our Savior's resurrection. Glorious music is so inspiring. We didn't have our family dinner until evening so all the grandsons could be with us.
We traditionally have Saturday as "Bunny Day" thus enabling us to focus on Christ for Easter. Since our grandsons were with their other parents we had an egg hunt after Sunday dinner. I will admit to enjoying watching them very much. We hid about 12 dozen candy filled eggs so all got a good share. I loved that the boys wanted their little sister to get a head start...all of 30 seconds was all they could stand.

We had robot eggs-
camo eggs-
scripture message eggs-

glow-in-the-dark eggs-

farm animals and bright, swirly eggs-

Now for counting the eggs
and retrieving the candy
Feeling grateful and blessed.

Two Preparations

I'm a little late...again...preparing my home and putting out some of my seasonal decorations. I didn't put all my Easter out but here are a few. Yes, I know you'll see my color patches but trust me, I have chosen the color and it is going up reasonably soon. Really. Oh and you will see all the before, during and after. After 25 years of white, this will be a big deal.

I was thrilled a few years back when I was able to find this figurine that truly depicted Easter for me...my Good Shepherd.

Maybe it's a contradiction to have my favorite picture of the triumphant Savior exiting the tomb with hoppy bunnies around but I do handle both just as I do with Santa at Christmas.

Somehow I like pink tulips at Easter and only bring them out then. Maybe I could bring them out for a baby girl shower. Anyone?????
Now in preparing my heart I will focus on three of my favorite pictures and reading Luke 22,23,24. HE did suffer beyond my comprehension for the sins of the world, mine included, died an horrific death willingly and
HE IS RISEN.
HE overcame the grave/tomb/death.
HE lives again as will we all because of HIM.
I am thankful for this time of preparation and being able to draw closer to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
