Adding Small Touches

Sorry the lighting is so bad here.
I found a couple of decorator plates on a discount rack at T*J* Ma*xx and knew they belonged in my kitchen. I love a super good bargain and color in the kitchen since painting all the cabinets white.

Here's a close-up.

Some new throw pillows for the bed. Yes...I know, the room is still not painted. I've never been accused of doing something rash. I can be a real slow-poke.
I'm loving plum/purple and rich green.
The twig wreath, a loved gift from sister Cindy, thank you, came from Taipan Trading, a SLC favorite.
The bed quilt was my steal at the Sundance outlet in SLC. It was originally about $250 and I got it for about $55. There are some great finds there.
I would personally thank Mr. Redford if I could. Really, I would. And I would not presume to call him Bob. Not me. Unless he personally asked me to. Yes, that would be fine.

Loving my new wreath over the mantle mirror. Trevlyn made it for my birthday and I've received it early...and enjoying it every day. Thank you sweet daughter!
I'll try to get an up close and personal picture here.

Somethings New

The past week has just flown by so quickly. A week ago today I was getting the house in order, at least as orderly as I get it, for sister Jody's arrival. It is always such a HUGE treat to have my family come visit. While in the cleaning mode with all it's style and sweat, Kathy called and reminded me that one of our favorite stores was still having their clearance sale. I'd gotten the email notice but it ended there for me. After telling myself I couldn't, wouldn't interrupt my chores I actually did just that.
THANK YOU KATHY. . . AGAIN.

It's not enough to show you the new sofa and love seat . . . two new lamps . . .

Close up of the upholstery fabric . . .

Same view maybe better lighting . . .
Recent $5 purchase - the Cuba travel poster - from Deseret Industries (DI) that's been in the family room a couple of weeks . . . the FUN fabric - Jody's inspiration to recover the chair pad . . . rearranged lamp on table and leather covered clock from an upstairs bedroom . . .

The fabric is in the "tucked in stage" which for me can mean YEARS . . . but it won't be. Plus, I may choose a lighter zebra background print . . .

View from the kitchen . . .
Have you seen enough???

I'm just ticked pink . . . or rather tickled gold chenille.
I sincerely hope this does not come off boastful!!! After so many, many years with ratty furniture this is just such a big deal. And the out of state family wanted pictures. And though I know it is not in good taste to talk price, and I usually do anyway with the family, the sofa and love seat cost less than $390.00 total. Just downright giddy.

Sneak Peek

Here's a peek at the print I just hung in the dining room (actually it took Garry, Skippie and I to hang it). I saw this a couple of weeks ago, loved it, didn't buy it and have thought of it ever since. So much prettier in person. I love that it brings in the warm accent colors I love to my blue and white room.
The next sneak peek will be the paint samples I painted on these walls that are drying and awaiting a second coat. This is such a big deal and so needed. We've had white walls for over the 22+ years we've lived here and a colorful change has been sorely needed. I'm just a scaredy-cat at choosing colors. That's why sample will be good but I've seen the samples and honestly, I'm still scared. I think I have to go find additional samples to add to the two up already. Boy it's good Cindy is almost here and with her and Skippie's help I'm hoping to get over my block and get the perfect color on my walls.

I Looked Out The Window...

This WAS the view from a second story window at home sweet home...

...then just a stump...and NO privacy.

And this is my NAK.ED house now.

The poor remains of a once beautiful tree. At least we got some of the trunk to the side of the house for fuel. S'mores anyone.
If you make it to the front door at least a burst of colorful primroses will greet you.

Here is my soda fountain chair in the before stage. I'll show you the after soon. I actually like the white, shabby look of the chair but it gets "lost" against the white house. And yes, I am excited for the narcissus pot to come into full fragrant bloom.
