Good Sabbath

This week-end is Church Conference from Salt Lake City, Utah. Instead of "going" to church I participate via TV from home. I find such joy from this.
I would love to share church from the beautiful Conference Center with you today, please click link below picture of Conference Center.

Wishing you a good sabbath.

Our Church Help in Haiti

Church to Build Temporary Housing in Haiti Before Rainy Season - click to learn more

SALT LAKE CITY 12 February 2010

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is launching an aggressive program to put as many as 600 urgently needed temporary housing kits into the hands of Haitian members before the rainy season starts in April. A single kit includes lumber, corrugated tin for the roof, cement and hurricane straps for the roof.

The goal is to get families back on their properties by clearing away the rubble through organized service projects. Once properties are cleared, tents or the new temporary shelters can be set up. It is a continuing effort by the Church to restore normalcy and promote self-reliance.

Hundreds of families continue to seek shelter at the nine Latter-day Saint meetinghouses around Port-au-Prince four weeks after the temblor. The meetinghouses have become known as places of calm and security to those staying there.

The Church has provided nearly 1,500 tents to those left homeless, and many now dot the property around the chapels. “A neighbor told me about this place and invited me to come,” said 16-year-old Cazy Lenlingy. “I am very happy to be here. Everyone has been kind and has received me well, thanks to God.”

Over 7,000 people originally took refuge at the meetinghouses, with those not of the Mormon faith making up more than two-thirds of the homeless.

Good Sabbath

Please let me introduce you to my friend Nell. I see her every week at church and I look forward to that. She has a fantastic sense of humor, quick witted. Lives on her own. Has great old stories, really great ones. I think she is about 96 years old. When you've lived that long I think you can't help but have great stories. As we were chatting in church today she was saying getting around is not getting any easier. We talked of the "golden years" being lead years. Then she told me this:
"If I would have known then what I know now, I would have learned a lot more from my mother".
I knew I wanted to share that with you right then and there. Thanks Shari from snapping this cell phone photo after Sacrament meeting.
( I really thought I looked good for church today but this photo is definately telling me something different. Could it be my mirror?)

I'll Be Singing With The Choir

This coming weekend is General Conference. Church at home in a sense. Saturday and Sunday meetings, satellite broadcast from SLC into our stake meetinghouse or BYU-TV right into our homes. I'll turn on the tellie to the BYU channel and truly worship. I'll sing along with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and boy do they make me sound good. I love this semi annual event. It's easy for me at this stage of my life and I have grateful memories of 6 children watching conference either at home or traveling to a stake center to watch in my past. Thanks for being so good kids-I really mean that.
Conference Center North of the Temple
Here is a wonderful children's conference book with activities to help keep them involved and semi quiet. There's a page for conference notes, coloring pages, conference bingo, dots and facts page, tally up page, & other activities. Better get something for the bingo page like pennies or buttons. I've already printed one but I think I can stay focused without the booklet; I just wanted to see if it was good enough to recommend for my grands and it is. I look forward to worshipping with you wherever you are. Love, Mom/Grammy
Ignore that green "download now". Just click on "conference book" above to download. You knew that though. Let me know if you did this and if the grands liked it. 3

My Catholic Friends

This Mormon gal is standing with many faiths and honored to be doing so. I'm standing with my Catholic sisters and brothers. I want to stand tall when I meet my maker, Heavenly Father, and know in my heart I really tried to do the moral thing, the things He and my Savior Jesus Christ taught. Farrrrr from perfect or where I even want to be but I'm working.

Family Is The Beating Heart That Keeps The Nation Strong

AZ readers, here is a great link. Go here http://recorder.maricopa.gov/web/elections.aspx and you can request an early ballot to fill out at your leisure and mail in. It's so important that you're registered and vote! You must be registered to vote by October 6th to vote in November. We have such incredible freedoms in this great country. So do the good thing and please make sure you're registered and vote.

Here's another important sight so you can learn about Proposition 102-Marriage Amendment. As for me and my house....VOTE YES.

Pres. of China Visits Mormon Student

So how did Hu Jintao, president of the People's Republic of China, end up sitting on a bed in Austin Miller's dorm room?It began with a Mormon mission to Taiwan.

This appears to be a picture of "Elder Miller" while he was a missionary in Taiwan and where he learned to speak Chinese.

Click here for the complete story. I really liked it. I hope you've had a good Sabbath!!!

China Quake Aid

It has been heart wrenching to learn of the death, destruction and pain that has been associated with the quake(s) in China. I cannot begin to comprehend the enormity of this horrible situation. I was encouraged as I read this news report. Even from my comforts and far distance I know my tithing and contributions will in some small part be of assistance.
