Spring Wreath . . .

. . . and spring winds.

I've been checking out the blog Jones Design Company lately, enjoying it a lot and thought I'd pass this info on to you.

Just click here to see the tutorial for making this cute spring linen wreath.
Things are kind of busy, crazy here right now but in case you dropped by for a visit I wanted to make it worth your time.

P.S. We had crazy wind and rain here. Big, big wind gusted in the open kitchen window, tossing the blinds up and knocking down my beloved Kathy's shutter shelf and breaking many of my little treasures...at 3 a.m. Sadness but life goes on and I will remember to place priorities where they belong and not on "things".
Happy day, msk

Sharing from my clever, creative friend KMS (Kathy S.) I present . . .

What can you do with a thrift store globe?

Spray paint it with chalkboard paint and turn it into a centerpiece. Her son Michael (NEVER Mike) has been awaiting papers announcing where his mission call will be.
Michael, on the other hand, has a different view on what to do with a globe.
I loved that the "missionary photo" session was just from the waist up. . . love the shorts Michael.

And the "call" has come! Look out Little Rock Arkansas! One terrific young missionary is headed your way to serve for 2 years.

"God's speed" Michael. I'm so happy for you and hope you don't mind that I raided this photo from your facebook account :)

Happy day, msk

Show and Tell

I've made a little time recently to use the candlesticks from L & J's wedding reception and create cake pedestals. I went shopping...of course on Senior Day to get a 25% discount at Good*will.

I couldn't just look at/for plates!!!

I could not resist this 99 cent vase. The color bursts. It calls out to me. Does it do anything for you?

Here is where it resides. And look Skippie, OUR orchid in doing fine! I think a second flower stalk is forming. What color is it anyway?

Here is a cute Cordon Bleau plate I snatched for 69 cents.

I had to purchase this white candle holder also 69 cents.

Ta Da!!! (said with great gusto) I think this is just darling.
Here's another one using one of our candlesticks. I finished 2 others.
Now plotting what to do with so many.
A party.
Display collection.
Gifts.
Do you want to add to my options?
This side of the kitchen bay window didn't look as pretty and the other. I've been moving things aroung but nothing said zing. After a few days it came to me that I needed a hanging plant.

I went to Low*es and saw some nice hanging plants. The little one was about $8 but of course I had my eye on the big one. Should I go ahead and look at the price of this big, taking over the world sized one...yes, it was the same price!!!!

My blessed day.

Then of course I had to purchase the sharp woven basket. Well, I feel the kitchen window is balanced and much improved. The pocketbook is a little leaner but not bad.

Thanks for letting me show and tell . . . my favorite part of kindergarten.

Surfing

Doesn't surfing sound so much nicer than "spending way too much time looking at other clever blogs!

But in so doing...lookie, lookie at what I found. Are they not simply adorable zori's! Oh, you may call them flip flops and I won't hold it against you. In the good old days they were know as zori's. These are embellished zori's at that.

And this clever blogger tells you how she makes them. Check it out here!

I think I can. I think I can.

Let me know if you think you can and will. I just love hearing from you.

Cake Plate Tutorial

While in Oregon vacationing last summer Jody introduced me to a blog "Your Homebased Mom". I've been "following" her-LeighAnn, an Oregonian ever since and recommend it/her to you.

She has shared a fun and what appears to be an easy Cake Plate tutorial. With all the candlesticks I have left over from Linny and Jared's wedding reception I think this is what I'll be doing in the near future. (Wouldn't you know I could only upload a photo of the uneven table and bunched up tablecloth.)

Thanks Leigh Ann for being an inspirational teacher and always emailing back to answer my questions.

Finished Craft

Here is what our completed project looks like. Cute but much cuter in person like so many things...take my vintage linen Asian embroidered tablecloth for example, so much prettier in person. I just had to take it along to KMS's so the girls could see in up close and personal. We all oooohed and aaaaaahed over the delicate, tiny stitches and quality. I'm so blessed to have friends that indulge my never grown out of show and tell habit. Thank you friends.

Remember Mog Podge??? This Saturday we crafters will be using it to make these. I'm not really a crafter and just the idea of using Mog Podge seems like fun.

Reminder photos of mentioned table cloth. Thanks for letting me have more show and tell.

Crafty Girls

Here's Lori V., me and Sue G. at KMS's lovely, lovely home putting together a craft project for the church ladies to do this Saturday. Know my pleasant surprise to find out both these dear friends visit this blog. It's fun to know who checks in and reads.

Kathy (KMS) had already cut out 400 rectangles and sanded them all for us to paint today. This is just a tip of our iceberg. I think they look like graham crackers. I'll share photos of completed projects after Saturday. We're meeting again tomorrow to complete our part. So fun to gather with the girls and gab. We even called Trevlyn, put her on speaker phone so Lori could tell her how much she missed Trevlyn's blog since it went private. That's taken care of now.

Sue and Kathy, photo from my cell phone. Kathy was clever and programed my email address into my phone so once again I can send my cell phone photos to my email and then get them on this blog. I could do that with my last phone but couldn't with the new phone. THANKS KMS. I'm sure you noticed we are all apron clad.

We spent a lot of time talking about Stephenie and Christian and when finished painting we got on Kathy's computer and watched the Today Show (click) interview with the family about the plane crash, family, blog world support etc. I'm really glad to be a part, very small part of it all. Are you a part? If you want to donate a buck or two or trillion you can do it by clicking this.

Happy day.
