I'm Nutty for These: Sugared Pecans

I always love to find a new and/or improved recipe to add to my arsenal. I was excited to find a recipe for Sugared Pecans since I don't want to pay the store price for a little container of them and let's admit those gems add so much to a salad. Adding these to a salad makes me feel almost gourmet. Good to keep are few on hand...right...any leftovers are snacked into nonexistence. Another goodie to have on hand for tossing in a salad is dried cranberries. I find the best price is at Sunflower Market (AZ) in the bulk bins. Thinking green salad for better health. Enjoy these easypeasy, microwave directions.

3/4 c sugar

1/4 c water

2 c nuts (pecans or walnuts halves)

Into a 1 qt. glass measuring vessel place water and sugar stirring to mix. Add the nuts and stir well to coat nuts with sugar mixture. Cook on high in microwave approx. 8 minutes stirring every couple of minutes. Microwaves vary so much, 8 minutes burns them in Jody's micro. Don't stop cooking when the nuts are beautiful, shiny and syrupy, keep going till a bit white and sugary looking. Spread on cookie sheet sprayed with vegetable spray to prevent sticking and cool. Now keep your hands off or there will be none left to put on your salad.

Yummy Yummy, are you making them for a salad for tonight or just for a snack. I will have to try this one. And I do agree with you I love dried cranberries in salads and just to eat. I like to eat them by handfulls right out of the fridge. love ya

M-Made them for a salad and then ate the leftovers; I'm so bad. I think this is a good snack for kids to. I stock up on bags of pecans from WalMart when they put them on sale during the Thanksgiving and Christmas hoidays; best price I've found.

I also love this recipe. When a sister has a new baby in the ward and I make a meal I always add these in. I think it gives the meal that little something extra. Thanks for the recipe. It goes down as one of my favorites.
