May we pause and remember why we have Memorial Day.
While most people are thankful to have a long weekend and spend time with their loved ones, many have forgotten the meaning of Memorial Day. Set on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day is a federal holiday designated for commemorating the fallen US soldiers who have died while in the military service. Although this day is typically reserved for soldiers, it's as good of a day as any to take some time and reflect on the heroic firefighters, police officers and anyone else who has given their life to defend our country, as well.
