HOT SOCKS PLUS

No, no, no, these are not Hot Socks. These are wonderful missionaries Sister Barlow and Sister Larson. SLK and I had a great evening when we had them over for dinner earlier this week. I so appreciate these great young women and men who serve missions for 18 months or 2 years. Then on Saturday we were together again at the baptism of an outstanding 16 year old young man in our ward. I have always loved this painting of John the Baptist baptizing Jesus so took pictures of the sisters in front of it and will send it on to their families who live in Brigham City, Utah and Portland, Oregon.

After the baptism I attended the bridal shower for Julie Marcotte. Time's flying and she was just 12 years old yesterday and coming into Young Women at church. She planning and looking forward to a happy temple wedding.

Headed off to Trevlyn's afterward for the General Relief Society broadcast; we chose to watch it on t.v. instead of at the stake center. Darling Trevlyn had a craft event planned and set-up for afterwards. She makes it so easy and fun. Here is my first attempt at a Halloween decoration. Photos don't quite do it justice but you get the idea. Trevlyn's art is here and here. The black feather boa doesn't show well but is really great. Thanks Trevlyn; I had so much fun and a cute, new deco to display.

While we crafted Tessa played on Marks massage chair which I had been on earlier. Mark graciously tried putting this old body back together again. Tessa was flying on it here! Note Kirby came also to visit Buddy. Kirby is at times like an American Express card and I don't leave home without him. I wonder if I got a phony service dog vest for him if he could come to church with me.

Sunday evening we had a family dinner and project prepared for attendees. After our build your own taco salad followed by build your own ice cream sundaes (now that's something to behold 3 grandsons create) we projected...not quite the same as crafted. Oh, I must mention that KMS who comments on this blog after being a lurker for a time and her DH known as that crazy white truck driver in my neighborhood dropped by and we twisted their arm into staying for dinner. Truth be told they were parked out front, peeking in the window and made their move when they saw us gathered at the dining table blessing the food. That ought to get her back commenting! I did try to get a photo of them but drat, the batteries pooped out just then. Next time.

Now for the HOT SOCKS!! I hope you felt it was worth the wait. And just what is a hot sock you ask. It's just an all cotton, large (men's) sock filled with about 4 cups of rice (cheap kind does just fine here), with a knot tied on top. You pop one in the microwave for about 2-3 minutes (adjust according to your oven) and you have a cozy HOT SOCK for those chilly nights that might happen here in another 8 weeks. Being ever the Scouts, we are prepared. Bring on those chilly nights. . . please. This one got a dog face.

What a grand experience, cheap, fun and fast. Note to self: get silver tea service on shelf polished before Skippie comes down this winter with Dr. Garry.

Leave it to those clever grands to play not Hot Potato but Hot Sock by tossing it around in a circle. Lest you think this was my idea here at Full Circle is the site where I got the inspiration. You'll remember this as the same one that brought us WILDING STICKS!! If I can't be creative I can at least copy quality ideas. Yes, Kirby is right in the thick of things. That 7th child!
