12.15.08

So much I want to share but too little time and you might get bored. Not you, me being too long winded.
1. Friday's ward Christmas party was a smash. I have such gratitude to member friends who helped me pull this off in 12 days. We served and entertained about 230 people. I felt like I was part of a miracle.
2. Saturday was Weldon S's funeral. What a privilege to be part of the group preparing and serving a meal to his wonderful extended family following the internment. His gentle love and example of a real servant of his Savior will always be remembered.
3. Saturday I was the speaker for the singles ward Relief Society's Christmas party. Darling young gals who went to so much effort to decorate, great chicken enchilada dinner, my talk seemed appreciated and then we had a jewelry making class afterward. Fun, made my first pair of earrings and again my heart was grateful. I appreciated the help from Christie who emailed many wonderful quotes she'd gathered for her Sunday lesson to her ward young women. Thanks.
4. Sunday evening was our stakes Christmas program entitled Saints & Angels Sing. I was part of our ward choir that performed and I will admit that come evening I just wanted to get under a warm blanket and veg. Once there I was glad to be. Our choir did well and SLK and Kent C. said our part of the program was the most worthy of applause...though we were in the chapel and thus no applause. It is always a joy to be part of singing praise to our Savior as we celebrate His birth.
5. Monday, today. Really chilly for us. The house temp this morn was about 59* so I finally turned on the furnace for the first time this winter. Thankful for the heat and hoping all those in the middle of snow storms and power outages will be okay.
6. I actually went to the post office today, thee busiest day of their year to mail a package to slc family. I got to the p.o. about 12 minutes prior to its opening and I was 14th in line. When they finally opened the door I saw only one person serving our ever growing line. Within minutes a second employee opened her line and then a third. My total wait was only about 30 minutes so I guess that really isn't bad and I should consider myself lucky. I got a kick out the various boxes people pack their treasures in. Mine was D's old BYU-I bookstore box, Bu.dweiser next to me and also noticed a burrito box. There were about 30 in the line as I left and a lot of those had beautiful snowy hair - outside I noticed a bus from the care center close by. Hope those dears legs hold up.
7. Home doing a speedy soak of some pinto beans...I was blessed with one of the 8 ham bones left over from the ward dinner. Happy for that and glad dinner is underway before noon.
8. Kirby will be visiting our dear friend/vet Greg this afternoon. He (Kirby not Greg) is limping on his leg that he had surgically mended this summer. Hoping and praying all will be well. Some of you are like me, true dog lovers, and some of you know and love even adore our Kirby. Your prayers are welcomed and appreciated and wanted.
9. A house and tree to trim today, finally. BIG, big job. Grateful for my home and my "Claudia tree" to decorate.
10. Are you still with me. Wow, you deserve some sort of reward!!! Thanks. Love. Happy day. Keep warm and dry. We might be getting 1"-2" of rain in the next 24 hours. That's a lot for this desert.
