Small Town Memorial Day

Danville, to me, is so wonderfully small town, old time. Local parade downtown with multiple fire trucks including this oldie.

Much of the downtown is old houses, many that are restored and pretty, row houses with the front step just a foot from the street.
Memorial Park with flags atop crosses.
The rhododendrons and azaleas in full, gorgeous bloom everywhere.

J and C have a lovely deck off the kitchen upstairs where we had great grilled chicken and burgers. We needed the shade from that umbrella since it was a warm, warm day.
Loved this house and decorations. It was generously about 3-4 feet from the street. I expected Pollyanna to come walking out the front door. Click to enlarge this photo and note the flower detail, lights at the windows which I see everywhere and look so neat at night and my favorite is the cat in the window.
J&J from a point above the Susquehanna River.
Self photo of me "on the banks of the Susquehanna River". It was cool and breezy. The grands loved riding bikes, scooters and trikes along a nice walkway by the river. Enjoyed watching many boaters and jetskiers with a little envy...not to the point of sinfulness envy though.

Swimsuit clad grands topping the day off with sprinkler play and watermelon.
Don't you wish you could share with this doll.
What a juicy face.

They've started a great garden.

All those darling grands are bathed and just put in bed for the night. I don't want to think about leaving them tomorrow and wondering when I'll see them again.

Looks like the next best thing to Heaven! I felt like I could just lean into my screen and chomp into Jack's melon! :) How nice that you didn't have to leave! hee hee!
