60 Years Ago Today
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MOM AND DAD. I LOVE YOU AND DO NOT FORGET YOU OR YOUR SPECIAL DAYS!
October 18, 1947 was the day Ben and Renie married in Lewiston, Idaho in the First Christian Church. This photo is dated January 1972 and I can tell it's in a hotel - perhaps this was their trip to Hong Kong. Hopefully Cindy or Jody will comment to set the record straight if my memory is incorrect.
I wish this picture were bigger and more clear but I think I can safely say they are a beautiful and handsome couple. Dad occasionally called Mom "Tree top tall" and as a girl I mistakenly thought that was an insult. Little did I know I would grow to be at least 3 inches taller than Mom.
Mom was fashionable, worked tirelessly to be a great homemaker and cook - and definitely succeeded, a natural at music playing the piano, clarinet and singing alto. She was a avid reader, the best speller and also gave a terrific back rub/tickle as she welcomed us for a cuddle in bed. She LOVED her grandbabies and left this earth oh so early. She developed a cancerous brain tumor and passed April 14, 1972 in Portland, Oregon. Love you Mom and trying to be more like you.
Dad was an entrepreneur, creative, and always had a positive attitude - nothing got him down. He could whistle better than anyone (Jody's a close second and I always envy that), loved music, was a terrific dancer, athlete and dived into a pool with strength and grace. A pilot, Dad was not afraid to try new things and was a trailblazer. Generous is another way to describe this man we love. Dad passed to the other side April 28, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mom and Dad, thanks for being my examples, for all your love and care. Thanks for fun memories and your generosity.

What a special day! Thanks for sharing this so beautifully! They are never far from my thoughts and I love them dearly!
MarySue I love your memories and so wish my kids and myself could have known your mom. Your dad was one of the people who made me feel so welcomed to the family. I remember at Trev's wedding weekend he was so very kind to me. Your strength to live on this earth without your dear parents gives me strength in living without my dad.
Yes, I too remembered this day. The picture was taken by me in the hotel in Acapolco, Mexico. Went on this trip with them, but then flew back to school and they took a cruise ship home. love and miss them both much. hugs
