Solar Plus Day

Another busy day. Another hot day. I'm trying to stay really positive about the heat back home in AZ. Heat is so good for some things. My solar clothes drier is working exceptionally well today. The second load is ready to be brought in and folded.

Only problem was I forgot to wear zoris outside & got some hot tootsies. These are zoris, not thongs, though technically they are a thong, and I just haven't caught-on to what everyone calls them these days, flip flops. If you grew up in AZ like I did back in the 60's, that's all my family and I called them. No comments on pudgy toes please.

The pool never gets to the point that a wimp like me can't go swimming at this time of year...another solar plus. Kirby can usually find a spot of shade too. Okay, are you going to comment Kirby? No one has fessed-up yet to being Kirby's "voice". You are too funny and I hope you're having fun but someday let me in on the secret.

I can always make some sun tea, which is another solar plus. I make herbal sun tea and my new favorite is African Rooibos Red Tea, pronounced "roy-boss". From the Cedarberg Mountains in central South Africa and is the leaves of the Rooibos plant. No caffeine and full of anti-oxidants. See the little "tea bags" floating in the water and brewing in the sun. A few hours outside and you need oven mitts on your hands to bring it inside!!

My favorite container for sun tea is a big vlasic pickle jar(without the pickles silly). It's huge and the pickles are good too. You can get this embossed, delightful jar and pickles at Super WalMart for well under $3.00, bargain folks. Here are a sampling of herbal teas I'm using currently.

Guess I buy alot of these pickles...especially when the Pickle Queen comes home from Utah. That's you Dori girl. I also like storing in glass opposed to plastic if possible. Here I've stored powdered milk and dehydrated onions in my favorite, beautifully embossed jars. Notice my little red bell peppers in the background. Just so cute. And see the little watermelon wedge, that's a recipe holder Jody cut out in her shop in the barn in OREGON and Mandy painted yeeeears ago. Still so cute and using it!

Well that's it for now folks. Heading back to that solar clothes drier to bring in the last load. Let me know if you too use a solar drier. Remember dear reader just what you take out of your automatic drier lint filter/trap. All that cute fluff is your clothes or fabric from. Don't forget a quick 2-5 minutes in the drier, a snap or hand pressing, than hang on a line or hangers to finish and the clothes look great and last longer. Is it another blog post to tell you SLK still has my drier venting into the family room so even 2-5 minutes of that heat blasting in the house and the lint that can cover everything is just more than I can bear. Enough, I hear you. Loves.

I love that I can put a comforter on my trampoline and the sun dries it in 30 minutes! Other than that, I side with Kirby!

Since when does Kirby type?

Here's a good herbal tea to try: Tazo is the brand and it's the Passion Herb Tea. Add a packet of Splenda and it is delightful. There's a little kick of cinnamon after each sip and I must say that I am hooked!

Never heard of Tazo. Where do you buy it? Kirby is absolutely amazing!!

I think sun tea is tons better WITH the pickles. I can't count the number of times I've had a waiter ask, "How would you like your tea sir? Sweet, unsweet, or with a pickle in it.?"
"Duh," I'd reply and give him my patented 'you'd better bring me a glass of tea with a pickle in it' look.
