Six years ago today I was driving SLK to the airport to fly out of state for business. We drove with no radio on and having not watched any TV prior to leaving. It was early morning when he got out of the car and I slid into the drivers seat and immediately turned on the radio as I drove away. I hadn't even left the airport before I heard news of a plane crash in New York. I listened intently all the way home and then immediately ran into the house and turned on the TV. Within a very short time it was clear that we were in an extremely serious situation. Not much longer passed and it was clear we were under attack. In my helpless situation the thing I thought of doing was to go outside and hang up my countries symbol of freedom, liberty, bravery and courage. It remained for many months. Today I pay tribute to our first responders and the men and women of our armed forces-past and present. I put my flag up today. What a privelege to fly a symbol of freedom and to live in a country of freedom. Today my flag comes out for national holidays and I consider it worthy to fly today! -
but my small "garden" flag is out much, much more.
Do you have a flag? Is it proudly and gratefully displayed today? Do you know that the correct way to fly/display our flag whether vertically or horizontally is to have the blue field in the upper left hand corner. Let us never forget heroism from any time of our history; teach our children as much as they can handle for their age. If we forget we are more inclined to suffer similar consequences. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do. I love this grand county!! May we live personally and as a nation in such a way as to merit God blessing the U.S.A.!

I will never forget you running up the stairs callingto turn on my TV! It just leaves a pit in my stomach to recall the events, but I hope that the families who lost loved ones can feel of our love and support of them these six years later.
I love my patriotic Mom. On CNN today the topic was, "Is it time to move on and stop the mourning for 9/11?" What are they talking about??? So out of touch with the attack on freedom and democracy and the sacrifice of life for that freedom.
I think all of us will never forget where we were when we heard the news of 9/11. I was 7 months pregnant with Parker, living above the funeral home, and watching the Today show, when the story broke. I remember immediently falling to my knees and praying for the people aboard the flights having no clue the true devastation that lie ahead. In the aftermath, I remeber all the faces of the women who were also expecting who's husbands would not becoming home that night. I hope we NEVER forget the devasting effects of 9/11 and always honor those who gave their lives in the hopes of saving another.
Amen, to what each of you have said about freedom and the sacrifice that is made to keep it that way. I love the song as that is my Jesse song that I first heard him sing in gradeschool and cried the whole way through. Love ya Jesse!
I second what my mom said. Jesse that is my favorite song and I to in Choir sang this song for one of my Choir finals with my best buddy. I cry everytime I hear that song. I was on my way to work and when I got there everyone was watching a little tv and had radios all going and I was like what is going on. My boss was crying. So was trying to help her get through along with myself and for all the familys that had lost such great family members. Amen to you all. 3

KMS-I'm pooped but the bathroom is painted...I'm sooo disappointed in the color (I chose too). Stinks to go to all that work and not like the color.
