Happy Bunny Day

Today, Saturday started out with the house being painted at a little after 6 a.m. Winds calm...is that the same as no winds? We had our ward breakfast, program and egg hunt and the Primary (of which I am a happy part) was assigned to put this ward activity "on". We started setting up at 7:30. A bit cloudy which was such a delight for Arizonans.

We decided on a no-cook breakfast and served muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, juice and milk. It was a hit. Only one person asked me where the eggs and bacon were and I told her at I.H.O.P.!

I wish this cell phone pic showed just how cute this idea was. I took white balloons (looked like eggs) and covered them with round stickers (garage sale price stickers). I attached them to garden bamboo stakes, hung long, green curling ribbon that floated in the breeze. They were a hit and I mistakenly thought I'd get to take them home but the Primary kids asked for them and they were all happily taken home which was just fine.

The Primary sang a song and then SLK gave a really good Easter talk.

A lot of clean up and prep for Easter Sunday going on at home afterward. I polished up some of Grandma Pearl's silver and cut fresh lavender for the center piece. I like to completely set the table the day before - even laying out the serving pieces. This makes a busy day a tad bit less hectic.

I chose to use my mismatched (on purpose) blue china. It's a rather calm setting with yet several unpacked boxes. If you asked me why it's taking so long to unload all of them I will tell you. I hope you don't.

A lot of work out side too with trying to put the porch contents, multiple pots of flowers, front and back together but not completely since there is still some touch up and trim painting to be completed Monday. Plant watering and now off to make my lemon curd.

Sticky Buns

I tried a new,

quick and easy

recipe for our Saturday, Bunny Day breakfast.  Can't say much for the nutrition but the grands gave it a big thumbs up.  The recipe will also be posted at Knight's In The Kitchen.

Butterscotch Bundt Rolls
AKA Sticky Buns

18 frozen dinner rolls
1 (3 oz) package butterscotch pudding (not instant)
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. melted butter

Arrange  frozen rolls in a well greased Bundt pan ( I think an angel  food cake  pan would also work).  Sprinkle  pudding mix, brown sugar and pecans over  rolls.  Drizzle butter over all.  Cover pan with greased waxed paper and then a kitchen towel and let rise at room temperature overnight or about 11-12 hours.  Remove waxed paper and towel.  Bake in preheated 350* oven about 25 minutes.  Cool 5-10 minutes before inverrting to a serving plate.  Serve warm.  Makes 18 rolls.

Happy Birthday Andy / Happy Bunny Day

I'm a bit chagrinned for not posting about other kiddos birthdays this year...sorry-really.  But it is Andy's birthday today so here is a shout-out.  What a great son that has turned into such a great husband and father.

Now, I wanted to share with you one of our family traditions.  When Trevlyn and Tyler were just toddlers I was  impressed with having a "bunny day" on the Saturday before Easter.  They had fun baskets, egg hunts and a party atmosphere.  It was a joy.  Then on Sunday we focused on celebrating the crucifixion and resurrection of  our Savior Jesus Christ, His great love and sacrifice for us and what that means to us.  This has been dear to me and I love this tradition.

Well, we will be having  the local family here for Bunny Day.  I'm loading loads of eggs with candy and planning on yummy  food.  This also  happens to be our church semi-annual conference so we will be tuned into K-BYU and worshipping from home on both today and tomorrow.  This will be great.  I will love this week-end.
